  • Apply for a Postal Vote

    Apply for a Postal Vote

    Labour volunteer teams have been out across the ward extensively over the last few week listening to residents. A number of residents have asked about applying for postal votes for the elections in May.

    Voting by post is the safest and easiest way to make sure your vote counts. The quickest and easiest way setup postal voting is by applying online via the Government’s website here.

    You can also download, print out and fill in a paper postal vote application form. This should then be sent to your local Electoral Registration Office.

  • Royal Anglian Way clean-up

    As promised, Royal Anglian Way was attended by the street cleansing team on Friday and the area is now clear.

    There was a significant build up of rubbish, which had been hidden by foliage up until the leaves started to drop. Whilst this was reported by residents it took us time to organise availability of a team which is why there was a delay after our initial enquiry.

  • Highway improvements and HGV ban

    Highway improvements and HGV ban

    Residents have consistently raised the damage caused by HGVs on Eustace Road, Broomfield Road, and streets behind the High Road. From broken bollards and cracked paving, to damage of property such as garden walls and vehicles.

    This has come at a huge cost to the council over many years. This autumn, part funded by the councillors ward budget, a Traffic Management Order is being introduced to limit HGV access in the area. Councillors have also secured significant funding to make highway improvements on these roads as part of the works.

  • Grantham Gardens Result

    Grantham Gardens Result

    Earlier this year when the most recent Controlled Parking Zone was introduced it wreaked havoc on Grantham Gardens.

    Since then Andrew, Rubina and Mukhtar have been working with residents to get changes to the scheme. Namely, more bays and renovation of the garage site.

    After many site visits with council officers, and constant pressure, councillors have managed to secure the first redesign of a CPZ in the borough. Seven new bays and a commitment to renovate the garages and let them to residents.

  • Saving Local Police Counter

    Whalebone Ward is fortunate to have a very proactive Safer Neighbourhood Team. Andrew, Rubina and Mukhtar work closely with the SNT to ensure that they are a visible presence in the ward.

    However, plans to close the front counter in Dagenham are deeply concerning.

    Whalebone Councillors commented: “The safety of our residents is absolutely paramount. That is why we are campaigning to save the front counter at Dagenham Police Station. If this goes our residents will have nowhere to report crime in person. If you have any concerns about crime in the ward come to the next Ward Panel meeting: 6pm on Tuesday 09 December at St. Chad’s Church Hall, Eric Road.”
