  • Updates in Chadwell Heath

    Chadwell Heath High Road has now been fully resurfaced, and Rose Lane is scheduled for resurfacing later this year (August/September). Work at St Chads Park is also underway. Restoring the park remains an ongoing commitment for your Labour Councillors, and the reinstatement of the cricket nets – previously destroyed by fire – is an important first step in a wider programme of improvements.

    Another key piece of work we’re pushing for is the underpass between Marks Gate and Chadwell Heath.

    We have continued dialogue with TfL, and they have now taken responsibility for the area and begun cleaning and maintaining it. This is still early days, but it represents meaningful progress, and we will keep everyone updated as further improvements are made.

    We also pledged to support and strengthen our local high street. Recently, we met with MP Jas Athwal and the local police to speak directly with shopkeepers about the challenges they face and the support they need.

    This ongoing engagement is an important part of ensuring the high street remains vibrant and resilient.

  • Labour Ward Achievements in Chadwell Heath

    We’re proud to have delivered a new youth centre in Marks Gate, transforming the former Padnall Hall into a safe, welcoming space where young people can meet, learn and thrive.

    We’ve used our ward budget to fund a brand new children’s play area at Bagley Springs, giving local families a high-quality space for children to play and enjoy the outdoors.

    We’ve also helped establish Chadwell Heath Community Centre as a key local hub, bringing vital council services closer to residents in the north of the borough and making support more accessible for everyone.

  • Apply for a Postal Vote

    Apply for a Postal Vote

    Labour volunteer teams have been out across the ward extensively over the last few week listening to residents. A number of residents have asked about applying for postal votes for the elections in May.

    Voting by post is the safest and easiest way to make sure your vote counts. The quickest and easiest way setup postal voting is by applying online via the Government’s website here.

    You can also download, print out and fill in a paper postal vote application form. This should then be sent to your local Electoral Registration Office.

    This week marks the start of October and of Black History Month.

    Black History Month celebrates the culture, history and achievements that Black African and Caribbean people have brought to the United Kingdom

    Labour Councillor for Chadwell Heath, Sade Bright, this week expressed the importance of the month to the Borough:

    “Black History Month is a time to reflect, to learn, and to celebrate. It’s about recognising the incredible contributions of Black communities, not just nationally, but right here in Barking and Dagenham. This year’s theme, ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride’, speaks to the strength and beauty of Black heritage. I’m proud that our programme offers something for everyone, and I encourage all residents to take part, be inspired, and help us honour the legacy and future of Black excellence.”
