Our volunteer team and Labour Councillors were out across Academy Central in Mayesbrook Ward today knocking on doors and listening to residents.
We were pleased to hear that some progress has been made on fly tipping and that work is now starting on some of the cladding issues.
Labour volunteer teams have been out across the ward extensively over the last few week listening to residents. A number of residents have asked about applying for postal votes for the elections in May.
Voting by post is the safest and easiest way to make sure your vote counts. The quickest and easiest way setup postal voting is by applying online via the Government’s website here.
You can also download, print out and fill in a paper postal vote application form. This should then be sent to your local Electoral Registration Office.

Our teams have been out across Mayesbrook ward over recent weeks, including today around Neasham Road. Door knocking is a valuable way for our councillors and volunteers to identify issues affecting residents. If we missed you, we’ll have left a leaflet. Following months of campaigning by Labour Councillors, Transport for London have agreed to conduct a feasibility study into making Becontree Station and Dagenham East Station step-free, potentially paving the way for making the stations more accessible.
Labour Leader of Barking & Dagenham Council, Dominic Twomey, said “I wholeheartedly welcome this decision from the Mayor of London to conduct these studies. These are two of the borough’s busiest stations, but they lack much needed step-free access. Inclusive transport options are vital for our community, especially for residents and visitors with limited mobility, parents with prams, and elderly members of our borough.
“Hundreds of residents signed our petition asking for TfL to increase accessibility at Dagenham East, which the Mayor’s announcement recognised. Transport improvement remains a key priority in Barking and Dagenham and we will work closely with TfL and other partners to continue to improve transport infrastructure in our borough.”

Mayesbrook Park is one of seven parks in Barking and Dagenham to have again received a prestigious Green Flag Award, a mark of excellence given to well-managed parks and green spaces that meet the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and community involvement.
The parks receiving the award this year include Barking Park, Beam Parklands, Eastbrookend Country Park, Greatfields Park, Mayesbrook Park, St. Chad’s Park and Tantony Green.
The Green Flag Award scheme is managed by Keep Britain Tidy.
